It was wonderful to welcome Ailbhe O’Halloran and Tara McGowan from the Centre for SEN, Inclusion & Diversity (CSENID), St Angela’s College to our office yesterday for training on music, special educational needs and Autism. This training will assist our musician educators to deliver inclusive music education in all our programmes including our specialised ‘Con Tutti’ programme in primary schools. During the course of the day they learned strategies on how to engage and support children with Autism in their communication and interaction with music. This is the continuation of a long standing partnership between St. Angela’s and Music Generation Sligo. Ailbhe O’Halloran co-authored our ‘Con Tutti: Music Education & Autism’ resource book with our Development Officer Roisin Egan and Fiona Jennings.
