Sligo Youth Voices Auditions 2018/2019

Music Generation Sligo is delighted to announce auditions for a new year of singing, in partnership with the Hawk’s Well Theatre. All levels of ability and standard are welcome. Sligo Youth Voices will provide a valuable and enjoyable programme for children and young people with an interest in choral singing.

Auditions will take place for two choirs – young voices age 9 to 12 (up to 6th class) and a new senior choir for the older age group 12-15 (those in 1st year upwards). Audition Workshops will take place in the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Tuesday 25th September from 4pm-6pm.

Sligo Youth Voices offers children and young people age 9 to 15 the opportunity to develop their skills in choral singing including reading music. Choir Director Roisin Egan will work with the choir to learn and perform a wide range of two, three and four-part songs ranging from popular music, to broadway musicals, to classical repertoire. Members will experience the thrill of singing and performing, while growing in confidence and making new friendships.

Weekly Rehearsals will take place each Tuesday 4-5pm for ages 9-12 and 5-6pm for ages 12-15 in the Hawk’s Well Theatre commencing Tuesday 2nd October 2018.

Announcing the auditions, Rhona McGrath, Co-ordinator of Music Generation Sligo and Marie O’Byrne, Director of the Hawk’s Well Theatre said ‘We are really pleased with the achievements of the members of Sligo Youth Voices since they joined in February this year. Singing is at the heart of each of our organisations and we are keen to further develop choral performance by children and young people together choir director Roisin and accompanist Maija”.
